Our patrons voted and said they wanted us to talk about Nicole Noren, a veteran sports producer and investigative journalist, leaving ESPN because of the company’s embrace of sports betting. Noren talked to recent BIAD guest, Danny Funt, about her decision to leave ESPN: "It was very troubling for me to see the normalization of betting and ESPN’s complete acceptance of that, and finally, they just decided to go all in. It worried me. I knew what gambling addiction could do to families."
In this Burning Thoughts, Shireen and Jessica talk about Nicole's decision (solidarity!!!), the industry's reliance on sports gambling money, and where this is all headed.
