Why Storytelling Still Shapes the Next Generation | Diann Floyd Boehm

What if storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to shape the next generation?
On this episode of The CJ Moneyway Show, CJ Moneyway sits down with Diann Floyd Boehm—award-winning children’s author, educator, actress, singer, storyteller, and creative voice dedicated to helping young readers discover confidence, kindness, and imagination.
Before becoming a full-time author, Diann spent years in classrooms, on stages, and raising a family. Those experiences now inspire heartfelt stories that encourage children to dream boldly, embrace compassion, and believe in themselves.
Her books—including The Little Girl in the Moon: The Big Idea and Charlie and the Tire Swing: How It Began—blend creativity with timeless lessons about confidence, curiosity, empathy, and emotional growth.
But this conversation goes beyond children’s literature.
It’s about the stories we tell, the values we pass on, and the legacy we leave for future generations.
In This Episode
• Why storytelling still matters in the digital age
• How imagination builds confidence and emotional intelligence
• The inspiration behind Diann’s award-winning books
• Why kindness should be taught intentionally
• Balancing creativity, education, and parenting
• How stories shape identity, empathy, and resilience
• Encouraging children to dream beyond their circumstances
Long before children understand the world…
They understand stories.
And the stories we share today help shape the leaders of tomorrow.
