Proxy Wars in Canaan — Part Two
Professor Eric H. Cline, author of Love, War, and Diplomacy: The Discovery of the Amarna Letters and the Bronze Age World They Revealed, explores proxy conflicts between Egypt and the Hittite Empire across Canaan during the late Bronze Age. Vassal rulers like Rib-Hadda of Byblos and Abdi-Heba of Jerusalem sent urgent correspondence to Pharaoh requesting troops and gold to counter hostile warlords, exposing regional vulnerabilities prior to the catastrophic Bronze Age collapse.
